Research is a carefully
investigation or inquiry especially through search for new facts in any branch
of knowledge.[1]
Research is the
systematic, controlled, empirical and critical investigation of hypothetical
propositions about the presumed relations among phenomena.[2]
Research any organized
inquiry and carried out to provide information for solving problem and finding
answer to questions.
Generally research
refers to systematic method of finding solution of the problems, formulating a
hypothesis, collecting the fact of data, analyzing the fact and reaching
certain conclusion of the particular problem.
Research problem refers to some difficult
which a researcher experiences in the context of either a theoretical or
practical situation and wants to obtain a solution for the same.
Defining a research problem is the fuel that
drives the scientific process, and is the foundation of any research method and
experimental design, from true experiment to case study.[3]
Research problem is the first and for most step
happens to conduct to any research or investigation. The researcher must find
the problem and formulate it so that it became the guide to the research in
order not to go out of the intended topic chosen by the researcher, because the
research investigation conducted on the problem existed in the particular
society. The aim of research problem is to provide a structure for
the concepts, tools and methods that can be used to resolve an issue that has
been undertaken. It would not be wrong to call a research problem the central
focus of a thesis or dissertation as the entire methodology, data collection,
analysis and conclusion process depends on the needs of the statement. The
main aim of a research problem is to identify what are the factors that
contribute towards the occurrence of the issue and why they exists in the first
place. Before choosing the research problem or statement the researcher must
consider the following.
Availability of data before the researcher
select the research problem he or she must have sure that data or information
that needed to the investigation is available. The respondents who will give
the important information or data in that particular investigation are
available. The information that will make particular research or investigation
are reached the intended goals or objective of the researcher.
Time bound means that
the topic or research can be covered within in the given time. When the
researcher conducted the investigation of the particular topic must know the
time or periods will the researcher spend during conduct the investigation. If
the time will hinder the investigation researcher will needed to change the
topic of the research in order to finish the investigation within the time
given.[4]
Availability of
research fund must know how much he or she will spend during the conducting the
investigation. Researcher must choose the topic that will be fit with his or
her amount of money, in order for researcher to conduct the investigation in
smooth and easily way at last to archive his or her objectives.
Interested to the
researcher[5]
the topic he or she chooses must have experienced on the particular society. If
the researcher do investigation to the topic that he or she like more such as
to find the root causes of the problem example, why many youth use drugs abuse
in Tanzania. This will help the researcher to achieve the goals of the research
or investigation because he or she got in strict desire from himself or
herself. Example the researcher wants to know the causes of pregnancy among
girls in secondary school. He or she can construct the research problem or
statement which state. The problem of pregnancy in girls’ secondary school.
Case study Mkwajuni girls’ secondary school.
Ethical background
concerned the area of conduct the research and the respondents, this will help
the researcher not to affect the respondents’ norms and cultural aspects. To
know the ethical background also will help to construct the good statement of
the research problem easily without interfere the respondent that are important
to get the information or data of the particular research.
Acceptability in order
to be supported by authority and the particular society that the researchers
conduct the research investigation will take place. This will help the m the
researcher to get correct and valid information from the respondent because the
respondent will provide the true and valid information that will help to reach
the research goals and objectives of the researcher.
Must have significant
both to the researcher and the society, the investigation or research must have
benefit to all before the researcher choose the research the topic or statement
must think about the positive impact as the outcomes of the research for both
researcher and the society. This will help to convince the respondent to give
the correct information because they will know that the research will also have
the benefit to them, for the researcher it became easily fulfill the goals and
objectives and to have benefit from the investigation. Example of significance
could be the solution of the particular problem which faces the society such as
poverty.
Educational in nature
to provide education of the certain issue as the result of the research,
example of the research which provides education is how to eradicate poverty.
This will help the society to know the suggestion proposed by the researcher
and the respondent the measures or strategies that can help them to eradicate
the poverty situation in their daily life of living. If they implement the
proposed strategies they can have good standard of living. The researcher
objectives will be achieved for both the researcher and the particular society.[6]
Original and norvality[7]
means newness of the topic and ideas, you as the researcher you must fill the
gaps left by other researcher by review their work research that are similar to
the topic statement which ware not being solved out depending on the time that
so the researcher must make sure that they avoid the duplication or copy of
other work in but it’s good to came out with new concept which could applied to
solve the problem faced the particular society as the case study of the
research problem. Example the negative outcome of globalization in Tanzania.
Research site Morogoro region.
Environment review
before the researcher go in the area of case study he or she must know the
geographical location features and also the status and economic activities done
by the respondent who wish to provide information during the investigation.
This will help to choose the suitable method to use in data collection without
interferes their activities also will help to know how far the place from the
researcher coming from. This will give you a clear picture of the place that
the researcher conducts the investigation and make the researcher to be
prepared to the environment which he or she going to face during the
investigation.
Qualification and the
training of the researcher before the selection of the researcher problem the
researcher must have knowledge of the topic which selected by the researcher in
order to have good starting point during the investigation. This also will help
to the construction of hypothesis of the research investigation because the
researcher has experience of the researcher problem it related with the
qualification and the training of the researcher got.[8]
Therefore research
problem indicate or show the research work will look like and the content it
have inside the work. So good construction of the researcher problem will help
to know the things that can be necessary in the research project. .
The aim of research problem is to provide a structure for the
concepts, tools and methods that can be used to resolve an issue that has been
undertaken. It would not be wrong to call a research problem the central focus
of a thesis or dissertation as the entire methodology, data collection,
analysis and conclusion process depends on the needs of the statement and
objectives of the researcher.
